Are buses wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the lower decks of our buses are wheelchair accessible, with ramps enabling access to all vehicles within the Darwin fleet. The boarding areas in the proximity of our bus stops in Darwin are also wheelchair accessible. There is space for one wheelchair per bus. We regretfully advise that we cannot accommodate mobility scooters, and may not be able to accommodate larger wheelchairs, due to weight and stability restrictions. Please note that the total weight of the customer, their assistant and their mobility aid must be less than 300 kg (660 lb). This is to ensure the maximum weight capacity of our boarding ramps is not exceeded. The wheelchair also cannot exceed the width of the designated wheelchair seating area. To avoid any disappointment on your day of travel, we would be happy to confirm in advance whether your wheelchair can be accommodated on board. Please send an email to explorerdarwin@gmail.com, including an indication of the width and weight of your wheelchair.
