How do I activate my bus ticket?
Download the Big Bus Tours app, tap 'Add Booking', and enter your reference. On the day of travel, tap ‘Activate’ to start your ticket.
Do I need an internet connection to use the app?
No, once activated, the ticket works offline. Just make sure your phone is charged.
What days does the tour run?
Big Bus operates year-round, except on Thanksgiving (Nov 24) and Christmas Day (Dec 25). Occasionally, service may be impacted by weather or city events.
Do I need to pick a date to travel?
Yes, select your start date when booking. Multi-day tickets must be used on consecutive days. Extras may require separate reservations—check your confirmation email.
What’s the child ticket policy?
Child tickets apply to ages 3–12. Children aged 2 and under ride free. Anyone 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Fold strollers before boarding.
Is the tour wheelchair accessible?
Big Bus Washington DC operates a limited number of wheelchair-accessible vehicles (up to 650 lbs capacity). As not all buses are accessible, please contact Big Bus at least 48 hours in advance if you or a companion require ADA assistance. This allows time to arrange a suitable vehicle at your preferred time and location. Note: the upper deck is not wheelchair accessible, and attraction accessibility may vary along the route.
When do tours start and how often do buses run?
First bus departs at 9:30am from Union Station (Stop 1). Buses run every 30 minutes until 4:30pm, depending on the season.

You can board at any of the 17 stops. Popular boarding points include the FDR/MLK Memorial (Stop 9) and Natural History Museum (Stop 15).
